Cedar Valley students and teachers brush up their math skills

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

"Moving through Math." Some area educators are learning some new ways to teach a sometimes difficult subject to students.

First graders and Cedar Valley teachers gathered at the Area Education Agency 267 in Cedar Falls Thursday to learn how movement can help with math skills.

Marcia Daft with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. taught the workshop. Area educators say her strategy to learning gives kids an active way to grasp necessary math skills. They say this method has lasting effects.

Daft will return throughout the school year to teach others classrooms her methods.
