Tree being blamed for Waterloo power outage

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Mid American Energy says a tree on a line caused about 2,600 Waterloo customers to lose power on Thursday morning.

Tina Pothoff, spokeswoman for Mid American Energy, says a tree fell onto a power line in the area of Scott Avenue and Flower Street around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, leaving about 2,600 customers without power.

Pothoff says power was restored to about 2,261 of those customers around 10:18 a.m., but the remaining customers will be without power until final repairs are made.  Pothoff says that could take until early afternoon.
