Cedar Valley plastic surgeon dies at pool

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A well-known Cedar Valley plastic surgeon died on Tuesday after being found in the bottom of a pool.

Waterloo police say they were called to the Sunnyside Country Club at about 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday after a man was found in the bottom of the pool.

Police say that a lifeguard started CPR on 51-year-old Deniz Bastug until paramedics arrived.  At that point, Bastug was taken to Covenant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police say a cause of death has not been determined, but an autopsy is scheduled.  Police do not suspect foul play.
