BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) -

Emergency crews reported to a head-on collision in the I-380/Hwy. 20 construction zone at noon Monday.

Daniel Flippo was driving his truck south on I-380 when he went off the right side of the road. Flippo overcorrected when he came back onto the road and crossed the center line, hitting Jonathan Link in his semi.

Flippo was transported by air care to Covenant for his injuries.

Crews have been doing a major reconstruction project of a seven-mile stretch of I-380/Hwy. 20 since May that forced both directions of travel to use the westbound side of the interstate.

Traffic was backed up for nearly four hours as the road was blocked off. All lanes of traffic are now open.

The crash is currently under investigation.
