Even with restrictions in place water usage in Des Moines is up

Posted:

The amount of water Des Moines residents used increased on Friday even though restrictions on water use are in place.

Residents used more than 75,000,000 gallons of water Friday, up from just over 69,000,000 gallons on Thursday of last week.

Friday's level of demand is higher than the Des Moines Water Works can handle right now.

A voluntary water use restriction is likely to stay in place through August in Des Moines.
