Nationwide plea for blood donations

Posted:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The emergency need for blood donations continues.

Today the American Red Cross held blood drive at the National Cattle Congress in Waterloo.

It comes after the Red Cross issued a nationwide plea for blood donations last month.

Although people responded to the call, more is always needed.

"Nationwide the red cross is seeing blood donations at the lowest that we have seen in fifteen years and much of that can be attributed to several things. We've had severe storms throughout the country. We had a massive heat wave that has had some impact as well and so we are definitely looking for more people to come in and help us," said John Schuchart with the American Red Cross.
