WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A car drove into a house in Waterloo Wednesday starting a fire and injuring one person inside the home.

It happened at 418 Longfellow in Waterloo around 6 p.m.

The mother and son of the house were home at the time; in fact, the son was in the shower when the car caved in the wall beside him.

"My son was exactly on the opposite side of that wall," Jody Sprhele said. "With a mirror in front of him, he could have been buried alive, and the driver doesn't have to courtesy to stick around. He runs away on foot."

Fortunately, the son only needed a few stitches.

The crash also created a fire.  The Waterloo Fire Department had the fire out in about half an hour.

Waterloo police have not yet released any information on if the man was arrested.
