UNI names new public safety director

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

The University of Northern Iowa has picked its new chief of police and director of public safety.

Helen Haire is coming from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she is currently division commander for special services at the Louisiana State University police department.

Haire will assume her new duties in early September.

She replaces David Zarifis, who retired in April. Milissa Wright has been serving as interim director of public safety in the meantime.
