Des Moines takes step toward banning street parking in snowstorms

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

The city of Des Moines has taken a step toward banning street side parking during snowstorms. The city council passed the first consideration of the proposal.

The measure would keep motorists from parking on the streets until they are cleared by plows. It has two more readings.

Some residents of southeast Waverly are a little nervous, as the waters of the Cedar River move toward a crest in the next 24 hours.
The City of Waverly says the river is receding and previousily closed roads are starting to open.
