Ames drying up from hot summer

Posted:

Just two years ago, flood waters entered the city of Ames. In August of 2010, the flooded river covered local highways making it impossible for vehicles to use.

Now, flooding is the last thing on people's minds. The waterways are drying up from the hot summer with little rainfall. The city is using pumps and boards to pull water from lakes and into dams.

Residents are also being asked to conserve water.
