DES MOINES (KWWL) -

A two-run seventh inning sends Lisbon to the semifinals as Lions defeated the Lawton-Bronson Eagles 5-4 in walk-off fashion in the 1A quarterfinals at Principal Park on Monday night. The Eagles — making their first state tournament trip ever — were ranked second in the state and took a 26-game winning streak into the game.

Kolbi Kohl led off the seventh with a single and came around to score the game-tying run with one out on a single by Marshall Morgan. After an intentional walk loaded the bases, Brock Gibbons smacked a single splitting the gap in right center to bring in Jordan Bahl for the winning run.

The Lions had trailed 4-2 after five innings before mounting their comeback.

The Eagles' offense struck quickly in the first inning. Austin Lefler lined a double to center to leadoff the game and was brought in on a single by Matt Smith on the next play. Lions' starter Morgan retired the next three batters to escape the inning, stranding Smith on third.

Lawton-Bronson would score again in the second inning in identical fashion. Dan Willer led off with a double to left and scored on a single off the bat of Zach Anderson on the next play. Two batters later Lefler split the gap between short and third for an RBI-single scoring Anderson.

The Lions got on the board in the fourth behind Keegan Tritle. The freshman belted a double to right center that scored Austin Springsteen, but Givens was gunned down at the plate on the relay throw from second baseman Lefler. Tritle advanced to third on the play and came around to score on a wild pitch in the next at-bat.

Dylan Lower doubled in the Eagles' fifth and scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Anderson, putting Lawton-Bronson up 4-2 at the fifth inning stretch.

Tritle doubled down the left field line scoring Springsteen for the Lions' third run.

Morgan (16-1) allowed all four runs on nine hits, walked three, struck out six and suffered the loss pitching a complete game for the Lions. Smith (2-2) allowed three runs on five hits in 2.1 innings of relief and suffered the loss.

Lisbon will face Mason City Newman Catholic in the semifinals onThursday at Principal Park. First pitch is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
