Iowa Supreme Court: No new trial for Mark Becker

Posted:

The Iowa Supreme Court has rejected Mark Becker's request for a new trial.  In a decision issued Friday morning, the majority of the court ruled that Becker's right to a fair trial was not violated in 2010.

Becker appealed, claiming the jurors in his original trial were not given proper instructions by the judge.

But in Friday's decision, the supreme court disagreed, saying Becker's rights were not violated.

Becker was convicted in 2010 of murdering Head Football Coach Ed Thomas at Aplington Parkersburg High School.

Becker was sentenced to life without parole.
