Hot weather, no rain likely cause of fish kill

NORTH LIBERTY (KWWL) -

State officials say hot weather and no rain are probably to blame for a fish kill in Swan Lake near North Liberty in eastern Iowa.

Hundreds of dead fish were floating in the lake on Tuesday.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources suspects it happened Monday night.

The DNR says the fish likely died because of low oxygen levels in the water because of the extreme temperatures and low water levels in the marsh.
