Missing girls' aunt discusses Lyric Cook's parents' criminal history

Six days after Evansdale cousins Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook went missing, investigators are still looking for answers. Meanwhile, many people have turned their focus on Lyric Cook's parents and their criminal records.

Lyric's mother, Misty Cook-Morrissey, has a meth-related drug charge and guilty plea from more than ten years ago. Lyric's father, Dan Morrissey's record includes drug charges, including meth, burglary, and a domestic assault causing bodily injury, according to Iowa Courts Online.

Misty's sister, Tammy Brousseau, told KWWL Wednesday night the family knew revelations of the criminal charges would eventually come out, but, that they have nothing to hide.

"They knew that it would come out, it's public record. They're working with the detectives, the FBI, everybody 100 percent. They FBI wanted to go in and take computers, Misty and Dan said, you're more than welcome. Take our phones, do everything you can," said Brousseau.

Brousseau is hoping the focus will remain on the search for Elizabeth and Lyric. Chief Deputy Richard Abben with the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office said the family has cooperated fully with their investigation.

Brousseau also spoke with KWWL about the funds donated for family members. She said the family will spend every dollar they receive responsibly. Many of the family members have not been able to work for six days, and this is not a family that was well-off to begin with. Brousseau wanted to reassure the community all of the donations will be put to good use -- for example, gas, food, and other daily needs.
