Here's some good news for Iowa City patients.

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the University of Iowa Children's Hospital have been rated as two of the best hospitals in the country.

That's according to a U.S. News and World report of the best hospitals in America.

The University of Iowa was also ranked as the best hospital in the state.

These rankings are based on surveys by nearly 10,000 specialists.

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics ranked as the best in country in nine specialty areas including:

6th in ophthalmology--that's medicine, dealing with diseases of the eye.

10th in otolaryngology-- that's a specialty in the ear, nose and throat.

15th in orthopedics and rehabilitation,

23rd in cancer care,

and 24th in neurology and neurosurgery.

The University of Iowa Children's Hospital also ranked nationally in 10 categories including:

18th in pediatrics: orthopedics,

29 in pediatrics cardiology and heart surgery,

and 52 in pediatrics: cancer.
