FORT DODGE (KWWL) -
Mid-Prairie built an early lead but saw it disintegrate as they'd drop their state tournament opener to Ballard 5-4.
The Golden Hawks Emmie Leinen drove in a pair of runs in the second, while another would score on a fielders choice in the 4th. Mid-Prairie took a 3-0 lead into the 6th inning.
Ballard, however, busted out the big bats drilling a pair of home runs in the inning. Annie Stolte started it with a solo shot, while Katie Ahrenholtz 2 run shot tied it at 3. The Bombers 2 7th inning runs would provide the difference as they'd advance to the class 3A state semifinals.
