WATERLOO (KWWL) -
The Waterloo City Council will wait at least another week before passing two amendments to the City of Waterloo Zoning Ordinance regarding regulations pertaining to alcohol sales-related businesses. Part of the proposed change would include adding restrictions to stores with a liquor license and a drive up window.
According to representatives at a work session meeting Monday, this would not make it illegal to for liquor stores or convenience stores to have drive up windows if they already have a window, but it would make it illegal for the stores to sell alcohol at the drive up window. In order to "eliminate the temptation", the current proposal also would mean that a new store applying for the license would not be able to have a drive up.
On Monday, the Waterloo City Council decided to table the discussion for another week. The City Council will discuss the proposal further at a work session meeting next Monday.
