BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) -

6 girls on a church trip were taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon after a water rescue near Cedar Falls.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. at Black Hawk Park just north of Cedar Falls along the Cedar River at the Cedar Campground.

Sheriff's deputies say six girls had been swimming near a sandbar and had drifted to a deeper area and were unable to swim to safety.

The girls had been pulled to safety by the time officers arrived and were taken to a Cedar Falls hospital as a precaution.

All are expected to be okay.
