Court rules that records can be concealed

The Iowa Supreme Court says the University of Iowa can conceal records related to its investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving two Iowa football players.

In 2008 the Iowa City Press-Citizen filed a lawsuit seeking records about the way the university investigated the assault of a female athlete by former football players Abe Satterfield and Cedric Everson.

The court says releasing the records will violate a federal laws that prohibit the release of personally identifiable information about students.

A judge ordered them released in 2009 but the university appealed the ruling.
