DES MOINES (KWWL) -
Iowa Lottery officials released the names of the "Shipping 20" Powerball winners Friday.
The 20 Quaker Oats employees had the winning ticket for the $241 million Powerball drawing on June 13th. Most of the winners appeared at lottery headquarters in June to claim the prize and took part in a news conference that day. The winners gave only their first names, and said they would file suit to stop the lottery from releasing their full names to protect their identities.
State law requires the Lottery to identify winners. Lottery officials set Friday as the deadline for the group to file suit or have their names released.
"It is our understanding that The Shipping 20 Trust has not filed a petition for an injunction," Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich said in a statement. "Historically, the lottery has treated the names of its prize winners as public information and we are doing so in this instance as well."
