A 20-year-old Waterloo man is in critical condition after a swimming accident on the Cedar River near Janesville Wednesday.

Family members say Dylan Huntbach is recovering in an Iowa City hospital with a broken neck and spinal cord injuries.

Deputies say he and a few friends were tubing on the Cedar River Wednesday when about 2 miles south of Janesville, Huntbach dove off the bank of the river and struck the bottom.

The Sheriff's office says that Huntbach was "experiencing numbness in his body".

The Dylan Huntbach Fund has been set up at Veridian Credit Union to help the family pay for medical expenses.
