'Retrieving Freedom' planning fundraiser

WAVERLY (KWWL) -

Thousands of veterans are on a waiting list for service dogs. That is why professional dog trainer Scott Dewey of Waverly started the non-profit 'Retrieving Freedom.'

The goal is to train service dogs for veterans and place 10 to 15 dogs each year.

Retrieving Freedom is also working to train dogs for autistic children.

They hope to build a facility where the people receiving the dogs can train on site before they go home.

The organization is planning a fundraiser July 7th at the 4H building in Waverly. Starting at 5:00 there will be food, bands, and a silent auction.
