Mom & boyfriend plead not guilty in toddler death

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

A mother and her boyfriend have pleaded not guilty to child endangerment charges in the death of her young son in Iowa City.

Mireya Balderas and Jorge Perez were arrested last month in the death of 20-month-old Marcus Balderas.

Marcus died in April from blunt force trauma to the head.

Monday Perez pleaded not guilty to two counts of child endangerment resulting in death.

Friday Balderas pleaded not guilty to the same charge.

She was accused of participating in the abuse and not protecting the child from Perez.
