Friends, family show up for Willie Gadson

Posted:

East High wrestling coach Willie Gadson's fighting the battle of his life, and his friends and family have been with him every step of the way.

In late February, coach Gadson was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.  On Saturday night, friends came out in big numbers at the Isle Casino for the Battle for Gadson fundraising event.

Organizers hoped to raise anywhere from $15,000 - $30,000 to help the longtime coach with his medical bills.  Gadson says his treatment has been going well, and he's overwhelmed by all the support he's received.

"I'm feeling fantastically well, been improving constantly," said Gadson, "As far as the benefit I'm just very humbled by all the support the community has given me and throughout the nation."

Anyone wishing to donate can do so on the internet at www.battle4gadson.com.
