WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The number has a certain ring to it, especially this year, with John Deere celebrating its 175th anniversary.

John Deere Friday announced a $ 175,000 donation to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank for the NEIFB's new capital campaign, currently underway.

The capital campaign is raising money through private donations to build a new facility. The NEIFB serves thousands of Iowans every day and has outgrown its current Waterloo facility.

Deere has long been a huge supporter of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. John Deere employees personally volunteer thousands of hours at the Northeast Iowa, using their own time.

Thad =Nevitt, Factory Manager of the Waterloo John Deere Works, says, "Since the very beginning of our company, helping to feed the world has been an important part of the John Deere mission so it is very fitting that as we celebrate our 175th anniversary, we make this contribution to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank."
