CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Cedar Rapids Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a man they say stole a safety deposit box key and then tried to gain access to the box at a bank.

Police say that on June 1, a man burglarized the home of a 78-year-old man and stole the key for a safety deposit box.  They say the man then went to the bank and tried to access the safety deposit box, but was denied access.

The man is described as a black male with glasses and a moustache.  He was wearing a blue t-shirt when he went into the bank.

Police also say they are trying to locate 44-year-old Michelle Rose.  They say she is a person of interest in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME (272-7463) or text to CRIMES (274637) and in the message/subject, type 5227 and your tip.

You may be eligible for a reward if you provide information that leads to an arrest.
