IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

In a statement released Thursday, State Senator Joe Bolkcom praised the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to uphold the Affordable Healthcare Act.

"This is a great day for uninsured Iowans and for everyone struggling to pay health care bills. We succeeded in bringing affordable health insurance to every Iowa child because the federal government was our partner. Today's Supreme Court decision means the federal government will now be our partner in bringing stable, secure health care to every Iowan. It is time to set aside inflammatory political rhetoric and get back to working together to improve the health care of all Iowans."
