Hall of Fame Mixed Martial Arts star, Dan Severn, is coming to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo Saturday, July 14.
Severn, one of the most successful wrestlers in MMA history, will conduct a noon seminar in the Dan Gable Teaching Center during a weekend of Hall of Fame activities at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum.
Dan Severn was a two-time All American wrestler for Arizona State University. His career Mixed Martial Arts record stands at 101-19-7. Severn won the Frank Gotch Award from the museum in 2002.
This year, Severn will receive the prestigious George Tragos Award, given to an exceptionally competitive wrestler who adapted wrestling skills and competitive nature to excel in Mixed Martial Arts.
The Tragos Award will make Severn the first wrestler to ever receive two different awards from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. He is also in the UFC Hall of Fame.
Severn's Mixed Martial Arts seminar will start at noon on Saturday, July 14 in the Dan Gable Training Center. It will be open to the public as part of a Hall of Fame weekend, which will also include a Professional Wrestling tryout session with Gerald Brisco Friday afternoon, July 13, at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center. The tryout session is at 1 pm Friday.
Doors to the convention center will open at 5:30 pm Friday for the 7:00 pm Impact Pro Wrestling Show, also at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center downtown.
The public is invited to a Fan Fest Saturday at 1 pm at the museum, immediately following the Dan Severn Mixed Martial Arts seminar. In addition, Saturday activities will include an autograph session at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum at 2:30 pm.
Later, it's the Hall of Fame reception at 5:00 pm at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center, followed by a 6:00 pm Hall of Fame induction banquet and a 7:00 pm Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
