Two Fighting Saints selected in NHL Draft

Dubuque Fighting Saint Zemgus Girgensons was the first local player to be taken, in the 2012 NHL draft. Girgensons was selected by the Buffalo Sabers with the 14th overall pick.

The 6 foot 1 inch center played for the Fighting Saints the last two seasons and has tallied 45 goals and 59 assist

His teammate Mike Matheson was also drafted Friday night with the 23rd overall pick.

Matheson will now be a member of the Florida Panthers. He's touted as one of the best defense-men in this year's class.
