A Pennsylvania jury has
convicted former Penn
State University
assistant football coach, Jerry Sandusky, on 45 of the 48 charges of sexual
abuse in the abuse of 10-boys over a 15-year period.
The 68-year old Sandusky
has maintained his innocence throughout, but the jury convicted him on 45 of
the 48 charges against him. The scandal at Penn
State began to unfold publicly late
last year, when authorities arrested Sandusky
on numerous child sexual abuse charges, including involuntary deviate sexual
intercourse. Prosecutors originally charged Sandusky with 52 counts.
The scandal ultimately ended the coaching career if the late
Penn State Head football coach, Joe Paterno, and led to perjury charges being
filed against Penn State Athletic Director, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz, Penn State's
Senior Vice-President for Finance and Business.
