WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A Waterloo man was arrested Thursday after being accused of burning a child.

Waterloo police say they arrested 26-year-old Justin Lawrence Robinson after an investigation found that he caused injuries to a 9-month-old child by putting him in scalding hot water.

Captain Tim Pillack says that it happened on May 23 while Robinson was taking care of the baby at his home on Virden Street.

Officers say the child had burns to his back and buttocks.  The baby is being treated at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Robinson is charged with child endangerment.
