UNI's Mulder moves to 800-meter semi-finals with fastest time.


Former UNI track star, Tyler Mulder, has advanced into Saturday's semi-finals of the 800 meters at the US Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon. The NCAA champion Mulder recorded the fastest of 32 qualifying times Friday night with his 800 meter run of 1:46: 81. The 800-meter semi-finals are Saturday night.  The top three finishers in the 800-meter finals will make the U.S. Olympic team for the London games this summer.

UNI's Tyler Mulder hopes his weekend ends with a ticket to London.  Mulder's one of the top competitors to possibly represent the USA at the upcoming Olympic games.

He'll open up competition at 7:20 PM Iowa time in the first round of the men's 800 meters.  This year's Olympic trials are being contested in Eugene, Oregon.

The former Panther finished 4th the past 2 seasons at the USA track and field championships.  He comes into this weekend with the 5th best qualifying time.  The top 3 finishers will represent team USA.
