DES MOINES (KWWL) -

The annual girls state soccer tournament will move to Des Moines beginning in the spring of 2013.  The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union made the announcement today giving the tournament to the capital city for the next 3 seasons.

The tournament moves from Muscatine after 15 years.  The city had been the only site to host the tournament since girls soccer became an IGHSAU sanctioned sport in 1998.

Besides Des Moines and Muscatine, the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex in Waterloo was the only other venue under consideration.
