9 people escape fire, one injured

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A fire in Cedar Rapids happened in the attic of a two-story home, where nine people lived.

It happened in the 1500 block of A Avenue NE, around 11:00 a.m. One person who lived in the home is being treated for minor injuries.

Firefighters found smoke on the second story and fire in the attic. Investigators are still looking for a cause.

Some residents of southeast Waverly are a little nervous, as the waters of the Cedar River move toward a crest in the next 24 hours.
The City of Waverly says the river is receding and previousily closed roads are starting to open.
