DES MOINES (KWWL) -

A group of nuns kicked off a nine-state tour in Des Moines today.

The women say they don't agree with the GOP's federal budget plans they believe hurt the poor and the vulnerable.

During the two-week tour the four Roman Catholic nuns will visit socials service agencies and the offices of several Republican leaders.

The nuns on the bus tour made their first stop in Ames, Iowa today at the offices of Republican Congressman Steve King.

The protest tour winds up in D.C. July 2.
