An Iowa City woman is accused of drunk driving in an accident that killed her friend Sunday evening.

Officers were called to 315 East 1st Street at around 7:18 p.m. Sunday.

According to the criminal complaint, 50-year old Miranda Lee Lalla told officers that she had a few beers at a bar and then drove her friend, 44-year-old Pamela Gross, home. Lalla reportedly said that when they got to Gross' apartment, the two got into a fight in the parking lot.

The complaint says that when Lalla got into her truck and tried to leave, she knocked Gross to the ground and then ran over her, killing her.

A field sobriety test showed that Lalla's blood-alcohol level was .093.  The legal limit is .08.

Lalla is charged with operating while intoxicated - second offense. Police say Lalla was also charged with OWI in May 2006.

The accident remains under investigation.
