DES MOINES (KWWL) -

The Iowa Transportation Commission has given final approval to a $2.6 billion plan in highway upgrades in the next five years.

Included in the plan is money to improve the very dangerous intersection at Highway 218 and C-57 / Cedar Wapsi Road just south of Janesville in Black Hawk County.

There's also work planned for the Highway 58 and Viking Road interchange in Cedar Falls.

In the Des Moines area, the plan includes finishing widening Interstate 35 in West Des Moines and building new rest stops on I-35 near Ankeny.
