Two eastern Iowa teachers honored with Presidential award

Two eastern Iowa teachers are being recognized for their work in math and science.

Karla Digmann, of Dubuque and Jody Stone, of Cedar Falls, have been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Digmann is a math teacher at George Washington Middle School. Stone teaches science at the University of Northern Iowa and Malcolm Price Lab School.

The White House presents the award annually to outstanding K-12 science and math teachers across the country. Winners receive a $10,000 award and are invited to Washington, D.C.
