Former Iowa City guidance counselor denied new trial

Posted:

A former Iowa City Elementary School guidance counselor convicted of sexually abusing a fifth grade student has been denied a new trial. Donald Clark said a judge violated his right to a fair trial. Clark claims his attorneys needed more time to review an e-mail introduced by prosecutors days before the trial.

But The Iowa Supreme Court disagreed, ruling that Clark failed to show his rights were violated. He's currently serving a 25-year prison sentence.
