Fredericksburg fire leads to drug charges

The investigation into a fire in downtown Fredericksburg Wednesday night has led to drug charges against two people.

The fire damaged an eight-unit complex at 100 Southeast Avenue during the Dairy Days parade.  The Fredericksburg Fire Department, along with many surrounding departments, were participating in the parade at the time.

Investigators say the fire was accidental, starting on an electric stove.

During the investigation, the Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on the apartment where 27-year old Phillip Hamby and 23-year old Norma Hennings live.

Hamby and Hennings are each charged with one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
