CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A Cedar Rapids man has pleaded guilty in federal court to having a stolen gun.

Germaine Perry, 38, admitted in court on Tuesday that he had a .38 caliber revolver in his possession that he knew was stolen.

Cedar Rapids police stopped Perry on December 28 for speeding.  During the traffic stop, an officer found the gun, which had been reported stolen in October, under a towel on the front seat.

Perry was convicted of robbery in Cook County, Illinois in 1991 and 1999.  He was convicted of delivery of a controlled substance in Linn County in 2009.

A sentencing date has not been set, but Perry faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release.
