Cedar Rapids police ask for help in finding shoplifter


The Cedar Rapids Police Department is asking for your help in finding a man they say stole merchandise from Sears and then stole a car.

Police say a man walked into the Sears store at Lindale Mall at around noon on April 30 and took merchandise without paying.

When Loss Prevention staff approached the man in the parking lot, they say he ran.  They lost sight of him on the south side of the parking lot.

Police say a vehicle was reported stolen from Cedar Memorial Funeral Home a few minutes later.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a white shirt and khaki pants.
