In the 2nd Congressional District Democratic Primary, Rep. Dave Loebsack was able to beat out Iowa State Sen. Joe Seng of Davenport.
Seng entered the race a little late in the political year.
Loebsack focused much of his attention on the Quad Cities area, which is the largest part of the newly designed district. That's where he and supporters met Tuesday night to watch the results come in. The congressman visited the area approximately 125 times since the new lines were drawn.
"Senator Seng has served Davenport and our state for years, and I'd like to thank him for his dedicated service and for the respectful primary that was run," Loebsack said to supporters Tuesday night. "There are many things he and I agree on and I hope to have his support as we work towards November. Because I think we all know that the tough work begins tomorrow."
Loebsack will take on John Archer, the Republican Primary winner, in the November election.
