Investigation into Dubuque duplex fire continues

The Dubuque police and fire departments continue to investigate Thursday's fire at a duplex on Jackson Street.

Crews were called to 2509/2511 Jackson Street at 2:23 p.m. Thursday for a reported fire.  When they arrived, flames were visible from the second floor of 2509 Jackson Street.

Police say that 42-year old Rory Zirkelbach and 38-year old Jennifer Ernzen were able to get out of the home safely.

Both units of the duplex were damaged.

Lieutenant Scott Baxter says both departments continue to investigate the cause of the fire, including if it could be related to the manufacture of methamphetamine.

No charges have been filed at this time.
