CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Cedar Rapids Kernels out hit the Quad Cities River Bandits on Tuesday night, but they cam up short in the runs department, losing the final game of the series 3-1.

Cedar Rapids had nine hits to the River Bandits four, but the Kernels stranded six runners in scoring position.  Quad Cities took four of the five games from the Kernels.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Kevin Moesquit scored from first on a double by Kaleb Cowart to tie the game at 1-1.  Cowart leads the league with 39 RBI's.

Quad Cities scored their final two runs of the game in the third inning thanks to two walks and a wild pitch.

Down 3-1 in the ninth inning, the Kernels tried to put together a two out rally.  After the two quick outs, the Kernels loaded the bases when Carlos Lugo walked, Frazier Hall singled and Moesquit was hit by a pitch.  Ryan Jones came to bat and swung at the first pitch he saw, but the line drive went right to shortstop Matt Williams to end the game.

Cam Bedrosian took the loss for Cedar Rapids.  He allowed three runs on two hits in two and two-thirds innings of work.  He struck out three River Bandits.

Aaron Meade pitched four and one-thirds innings, allowing one hit, and striking out 5.  He allowed no walks and no runners reached scoring position.  Stephen Tromblee pitched the final two innings for Cedar Rapids, allowing just one hit.

The Kernels now host the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers for a three-game series.  Game one is Wednesday at 6:35 p.m.
