Zach Johnson wins the Crowne Plaza Invite

Posted:

A late two stroke penalty nearly cost Zach Johnson.  Instead, it only turned a comfortable 3 stroke victory into a one stroke victory as Johnson edged Jason Dufner for the championship at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth.

Johnson, leading Dufner by 3 strokes, moved his ball marker to allow Dufner to finish out at 18.  He forgot to move the marker back to it's original position, and hit his final putt from the wrong location to incur the penalty and finish the tournament at -12 rather than -14.

The win was his first since 2010, and coincidentally, the last one also came at the Crown Plaza Invitational.
