Parents sue boat operators after daughter's death

Two years after a 12-year-old girl was hit by a boat on the Coralville Reservoir, the girl's parents are suing the operators of both boats involved.

Sarah Perkins died after a tragic boating accident on May 30, 2010.

Perkins was hit by a boat after falling off an inflatable tube she was riding behind another boat.

According to our partners at the Iowa City Press-Citizen, Sarah's parents, Ericka and Bill Perkins are now suing the driver of the each boat: Janyce and Robert Gray, who owned the boat that was pulling Perkins,.and the owners of the boat that hit her, James and Jennifer Sahorik.

The Perkins are accusing them of operating in a "negligent or reckless manner".

No legal charges were filed against either couple.
