Snappers use 9 unanswered runs to down Kernels

The Beloit Snappers scored nine unanswered runs to down the Kernels 9-2 on Thursday night.

The Kernels looked good early, scoring two runs in the top of the first.  Kevin Moesquit was walked by A.J. Achter and later scored on a wild pitch, making it 1-0.

Later in the inning, Kaleb Cowart hit a double and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Frazier Hall giving Cedar Rapids the 2-0 lead.

That would end the scoring for the Kernels though.  Beloit took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the first.  They added two runs in the second inning, one in the fifth and two in the eighth to make the 9-2 tally.

Cam Bedrosian started for the Kernels.  He pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing four runs on two hits while striking out one and walking three.

Frank De Jiulio pitched 2.1 innings in relief, allowing four runs on two hits while striking out four and walking one.

Joe Melioris allowed one run on four hits with five strikeouts and one walk in four innings of work.

Logan Odom pitched one inning, allowing two runs on two hits while walking one.

The Kernels can still win the series with a win at Beloit on Friday night at 6:30 p.m.

The Kernels return home on Saturday to start a series with Quad Cities at 7:05 p.m.
