Sac County rescued dog's puppies ready to be adopted today

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Perhaps the newest cocker spaniel puppies at the Cedar Valley Humane Society will never know what their mother went through.

"We are going to close a chapter what started as a really terrible story," said Bob Citrullo, Executive Director.

In January, the Cedar Valley Humane Society in Cedar Rapids took in 15 of the 88 dogs rescued from a Sac County puppy mill. The pets came in with severe ear infections and other medical conditions.

Two of the female dogs were pregnant at the time and the last litter is finally ready for adoption.

"It's really wonderful seeing them go into homes and with each wave of puppies it's been even more heart warming," said Jan Clarke, Communications Director.

Four puppies, three girls and one boy, are up for adoption.

The adoption event for the puppies will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

Every family will get two tickets for a chance to grow their home. There will be one jar for the girls and one jar for the boy. Then a family will be drawn, giving each puppy an opportunity to start a new life.

"It's wonderful seeing the last four puppies get adopted into homes. It has been a long story," said Clarke.
