CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Linn County Medical Examiner has identified the body pulled from the Cedar River on Tuesday morning.

Silverio Matias-Perez, 28, of Cedar Rapids, was pulled from the Cedar River on Tuesday after witnesses reported him going under the water and not surfacing on Saturday night.

On Tuesday, crews began a fourth day of searching for Matias-Perez who was trying to cross the river Saturday night near Old River Road SW. Witnesses say the he went under and didn't come back up.

"There will be deceptive areas where it will be very shallow and you can walk across," said Greg Buelow with the Cedar Rapids Fire Department. "Then all of the sudden you are at a 10 to 15 foot pocket where you are going to go down very quickly. When you have rocks and other debris in there it can snag your clothing and your body and you will not be able to resurface."

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department says the body was found around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, about 250 yards from the spot that witnesses say Matias-Perez went in on Saturday.

The cause and manner of death will not be officially determined until toxicology reports are received from the State Laboratory.
